Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
PhD Planner is a free tool operated by Manava (Netherlands). This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. Questions: arjan@manava.nl.
What we collect
- Account details: your email and name.
- The content you enter: dissertations, studies, tasks, chapters, milestones, meetings, documents and other notes.
- Basic usage signals (e.g. when you were last active) to operate the service.
Where it is stored
Your data is stored on servers in the European Union (Supabase, region eu-west-1). Authentication uses an essential session cookie.
How we use it
We use your data to provide and operate the app for you. In addition, you grant us the right to use your data in pseudonymised, aggregated form — with direct identifiers removed — to operate, analyse and improve PhD Planner and for research and product insights. We never sell your personal data, and pseudonymised data is not used to publicly identify you.
Sharing with other users
Other users only see your content when you explicitly share it — for example a progress-report link or a live meeting link, or by inviting a supervisor. This is separate from our own pseudonymised use of the data described above.
Your rights
You can access and export your data and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes your personal data and the content tied to it. Pseudonymised, aggregated data that no longer identifies you may be retained.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected on this page.
